COMPETITION2008
Entry for an open ideas competition for the “White House” in Washington. The design is based on stealth technology and bunker design and therefore the building is called “Stealth House”. It is an expression of raw power and represents a nation in conflict and troubled times. The main building is shaped like a dark crystal monolith with small window slits and a thick metal shell, completely introverted and secretive, opening up in a single focus point; the presidential balcony. The landscape is triangulated, its pathways and access points optimised for security and surveillance.
The main building houses the oval office, presidential quarters, representative space and a visitor area, while 80% of the complex is buried underground to withstand hostile attacks.
This project was done in collaboration with Macro Zuttioni.
